something about me

This website was created to showcase my greatest passion: nature photography with a focus on landscapes. This habit of carrying expensive and heavy camera gear on outdoor trips started around 2017, when I first moved from Poland to Bavaria, Germany. Spending a lot of time alone back then pushed me to find creative ways to use my free time. I purchased a cheap tripod from a local electronics store and started experimenting. Then, the magic happened: I switched from shooting JPG to RAW. My camera equipment back then was entry-level and quite light, but eventually, I fell victim to GAS (Gear Acquisition Syndrome). Naturally, I upgraded to a heavy full-frame setup - much to the dismay of my back. Has my photography improved? Debatable...

For around three years (2017-2020), I experimented and learned the craft using my entry-level equipment. During that period, which I'm sure many photographers can relate to, I focused on shooting iconic locations, recreating famous photographs, and learning various techniques. I went on my first dedicated photography trips to places like Iceland and the Dolomites. My drive back then was primarily to "collect" well-known frames, always hoping for perfect conditions (you guessed it - epic, burning skies), which, let's be honest, rarely happen. Consequently, very few photographs from that period remain in my portfolio today. It wasn't just because I was overly dependent on the weather, but also because of their questionable technical quality. Around 2020, during the pandemic, travel restrictions brought a massive shift in my mindset. Taking inspiration from photographers I admire, I began focusing on finding my own personal expression. While it wasn't a sudden, complete transformation, but rather a gradual evolution, this was when I started taking photographs that have truly stood the test of time.

Professionally, I am a research engineer at a university, yet it is behind the camera where I find my artistic outlet. My portfolio ranges from grand landscapes and atmospheric shots to intimate close-ups. I particularly enjoy reacting to sudden weather changes and finding inspiration in the fleeting moments created by light. In fact, unexpected photographic opportunities are what bring me the greatest joy. This is likely because the 1st Law of Landscape Photography (which I just made up) states that expecting a specific condition almost certainly leads to disappointment.
